Joe Vassar  was born in Montevallo Alabama to the parentage of the late Gilford and Nellie Vassar.

He met and married Frances Ghent (deceased).  Later he married Jane Vassar (deceased), and to this union two children were born, Joan Vassar, who now lives in Tallahassee, Florida and Gilford Vassar (deceased).

He was a very caring and loving man and always said that family came first.  He was a big lover of the Montevallo community.  He walked the streets daily to get his exercise.  Everyone knew “Mr. Vassar”.

He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church until he died.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories, only one daughter, Joan Vassar; three grandsons, Dominic Vassar, Raleigh, NC, Ross Vassar, Austin TX, Michael Vassar, Germany; five brothers all of whom are deceased except for one brother living, Ralph (Claudia)  Vassar,  Huntsville Alabama.
