Obituary

Glenn H. Millender, 65, of Marietta, GA passed away on March 10, 2021 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.  He was a devoted brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Millender of Wilsonville, AL; his brothers, Earl (Ethel) Millender of Canton, MI and Ronald (Loretta) Millender of Calera, AL and his sister-in-law, Rose Millender of Wilsonville, AL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Oliver Millender, Sr., his brother, Oliver Millender Jr. and sister, Vivian Simon.

Glenn was educated in the Shelby County School system and graduated from Shelby County High School in 1973. He continued his education and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Supervision and Management from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI.

Glenn was an employee of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company for 42 years. He worked as Senior Manager of Air Mobility Maritime Mission (AMMM) Supply Chain Management (SCM) located in Marietta, Georgia.  Glenn also worked in Fort Worth, TX as Director of Supply Chain Management Subcontract Program Management in the F-22, F-16 and C-130 from 1979 to 2013.   Glenn received two STAR awards for F-22 Cost Affordability and C-130 MYIII Capture team and other various team awards.   Within Marietta SCM organization, he had the leadership responsibilities and oversight of Operation Integration teams, Subcontract Program Managers (Domestic and International) and Procurement Estimating supporting all AMMM production and sustainment aircrafts.  Glenn duties also included working business development strategies to capture future business and working as the liaison with Lockheed Martin internal customers.

While Glenn leads his team in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 15/FAR12 contracting strategies; he was also considered AMMM Program and SCM subject matter expert as it relates to requirement of FAR 15 contracting with the United States Government (USG).  This has led to Glenn’s engagement with the Government Prime Contracting Officer by participating in AMMM’s Prime Contract Negotiations for Block Upgrade 7.0/8.1, Spares Proposals and Multi-Year I, II, and III.

Glenn managed a team of 27 employees and worked with another 67 employees within SCM Marietta and the following are common sayings the team would hear from Glenn during the day: I’m Done, Humor Me, You add value not me, Questionnnn, Can I ask a favor, Chaps me off!, Someone’s going on Vacation (Really it’s Business Travel), it’s not me it’s the team…I don’t do anything around here, Scuse Me!?!?, Ummm (with crazy look on his face) and I’m Old School.

Glenn was dearly loved by his family, friends and co-workers.  He was a mentor, encourager and confidant.  He will be greatly missed.
