We can only stand and gaze and bow our hearts in humble submission to the will for Him who doeth all things well. For we must all go someday, one by one.
The transition from earth to eternity came to Annie Marie Williams on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Annie was born on Saturday, October 3, 1942 to Elder John Henry and Corean Williams in Shelby, Alabama. She was the sixth of twelve children born to their union. Annie confessed Christ at an early age. She joined Saint Paul AME Church in Akron, OH under the leadership of Rev. Allen Walker, Sr. and New Hope Baptist Church, Akron, OH under leadership of Rev. Benny Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elder John Henry Williams, mother, Corean Cannon Williams; two sisters, Bertha L. Sanders, Ethel J. Gavin;and three brothers, Joseph Williams, Johnnie Williams, and Herman Williams.
Annie was a graduate of Prentice High School. She was a great cook, bead and pillow maker and loved reading and puzzles. Her specialty was quilt making for family and friends. Annie had a deep passion for family and friends. Her smile was the light of every family gathering. Her sense of humor leaves memories that will only make you laugh and smile.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory; three sisters, Callie Harris, Akron, OH, Doreen McCormick, Birmingham, AL, Elder Lula (Bishop Rodney Sheppard) Brent, AL; three brothers, J.C. (Myra) Williams, Bessemer, AL, Earnest (Virginia) Williams, Montevallo, AL, Overseer Jimmy (Mother Cornelia) Williams, Warrior, AL. Two aunts Flora (Linton) Rutledge, Los Angeles, CA, Lillie Curry, Ft. Waye, IN. Annie had no children of her own but had a hand in raising many of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephew. Annie had a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by her good friends, Brenda Rivers, Frances Little, Carolyn Walker, Sharon Combs, Pauline Finley, Laura Levingston, the Tolbert family and many more from Akron and Warren, Ohio. Very special brothers-in-law, the late Herman Harris, Bishop Willie Sanders, Sr. and her wheelchair puller, Rodney Sheppard.
Viewing will be held Friday, April 17, 202 from 3:00 p.m -5:00 p.m. at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home
A Private Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Sat. Aprol 18 at 12:00 noon at Montevallo City Cemetery.
