Lacey
May 25, 1947 – December 2, 2017
At a very early age, Mr. Lacey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and continued to expand his relationship with Christ throughout the years.
Mr. Arthur J. Lacey, Sr. received his formal education in Calera, AL while later going on to graduate from Prentice High School in Montevallo, AL. Shortly after graduating in 1966, Arthur went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Miss Gretta Ann Merchant (Lacey), where they maintained a growing, loving family over fifty years.
Mr. Lacey was a control operator for Dravo, later to become Carmeuse Lime Company, for thirty two years until his retirement in 2013. In his leisure, Mr. Arthur J. Lacey, Sr. enjoyed watching sports and professional fishing on Television, as well as taking his Skeeter out on the water and catching a few fish himself.
Preceding Mr. Arthur J. Lacey, Sr. in death was four brothers, two sisters and his grandson, Rodrequis Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Gretta Lacey; one sister: Mary Lacey, Washington, D.C.; four sons: Zack (Vickie) Merchant, Knoxville, TN; Arthur (Maria) Lacey, Jr., Dothan, AL; Eric (Clea) Lacey and Angelo Lacey, both of Alabaster, AL; one daughter: Kameka Lacey; sister-in-law: Connie (Larry) Johnson, Knoxville, TN; brothers-in-law: Tim Elliott, Greg Patterson, Pinky, Freddie Kirkland; ten grandchildren: Cherrenda Merchant, Alonzo and Andre Brown, Ariana Lacey, Jovante and Dovante Lacey, Ishadora Coats, Jahsun Emener, Temika and Erica Green; A special friend: Larry (Kathy) Calhoun, Alabaster,AL; a host of nieces including Jackie Thomas, Washington, D.C. and Yaphett Robinson of Chattanooga, TN, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at New Vision Christian Center Church in Helena, wth burial at Liberty Cemetery in Elliotsville. Pastor Van C. Houser Officiating.
