Billy Anderson Phillips, Sr., was born to the parentage of the late Jasper and Ada Phillips on October 25, 1944 in Bibb County, AL.  He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Unionship Baptist Church in Lawley, AL.  He attended Bibb County Training School.  His working career started in logging, where he worked over 30 years until his health failed him.  He was preceded in death by: one grandson, Desmond (Corey) Phillips; one sister, Dora Lee Murphy; and three brothers, Willie James, Johnny Franklin and Thomas Phillips.  He departed this life on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Hospice of West alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.  He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Willie Mae Phillips; one son, Billy Anderson Phillips, Jr. of Brent, AL; two grandchildren, Kiana M. Phillips of Northport, AL and Antonio Phillips of Indianapolis, IN; one great-grandson, Dylan Sturvidant; one brother, clyde (Alice) Phillips; four sisters, Dorothy (Oneal) Dukes, Minnie Jean (Jerry) Harvey, Ada Mae and Rena Phillips; six sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.
