Bishop Joel Hudson, Sr.
Passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born on September 3, 1951 to the union of the late Mr. Joe Simon Hudson and the late Pastor Ruthie L. Hudson in Bibb County, Alabama.
After receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, continuing in prayer and studying, Joel accepted the Call of God to the ministry and served for forty three years. Bishop Joel also served in the pastoral capacity for ten years. Being a student of the scriptures, Joel would be found furthering his education online at Liberty University, a Christian College. He loved the Word of God so much that he was known as "Mr. Bible".
Joel's career span was primarily as an auto mechanic. For a brief time, he owned his own shop in Fairfield, AL. Joel was employed with Susan Schein for a number of years and in 2013, he retired from Serra Hyundai in Birmingham, AL.
Preceding him in death was his son, Joel Hudson, Jr.
Joel leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Jennifer Hudson; five sons, Lorenzo (Vanita), Joshua (Khalida), Jeremiah (Dawn), Caleb (Charisse) and Christopher; fifteen grandchildren; three brothers, Marshall Smith, Emmett (Elizabeth) Chappell, Robert L. (Tina) Hudson; one sister, Carrie (Alan) Hayes; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friend. And a special friend, Ms. Africa.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Faith Temple Deliverance Center in Montevallo with burial at Caffey Junction Cemetery in Woodstock, AL. Bishop Johnny Harris -Pastor. Rev Lorenzo Hudson -Eulogist.
