Cova Sawyer, Jr. was born Sunday, June 4, 1950 to the late Cova Sawyer, Sr. and Alberta Player Sawyer in Shelby Alabama.  He attended the Shelby County Training School.  He served many years in the pulpwood business.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He departed this life on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Brookwood Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster, AL.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife, Lillian Green; four children; Phyllis Harris (Terry), Melinda Wooley (Anthony), Kenya Green, Cova Laver Green (Gloria) all of Shelby, AL and Felicia Maddox of Cincinnati, Oh.; one brother, Dwight Sawyer; one sister, Willie Pearl Sawyer both of Shelby, AL; one aunt, Margaret Sawyer Cole of Montgomery, AL; one uncle, Albert Player of Talladega, AL.  Nine grandchildren: Terrence Green, Nikita Green, Kayla Green, Ebony Green, Brandon Green, Tyree Green, Deshun Green, Aaliyah Bland and Jawuan Bland; Eleven Great grandchildren, Four nephews Nathaniel Sawyer (Racheal), Deandre Sawyer, Daryl Pickett, and Qudarrius Sawyer and ; one niece, Destiny Sawyer, One best friend Norman White (Quilla) and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Shelby Cemetery in Shelby,  AL. Overseer Shirley Elms -Officiating
