Elsie Marie Carter was born January 15, 1948, to the late Mr. John Will Battle Sr. and Mrs Mozell Battle.
Elsie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Union Baptist Church in Columbiana, AL.
Elsie was a very loving person to all who met her. She was well known through the community for her kindness and incredible cooking. Her passing is a great loss to us and all who knew her, near & far. She was a strong woman of faith. She will truly be missed.
Elsie was educated in Columbiana, AL at the Career Technical Education Center. She retired from Shelby County Sheriff's Office, as a dispatcher.
Elsie was united in Holy Matrimony to Luther Carter on June 25, 1973.
Elsie leaves to cherish her memories: her sons Jarifa Carter, Jonathan Carter; granddaughter Jarica (Rodterrius) Green; great grandchildren, A'Mariana, A'Laiya, Reighn, Amarion, Amir, Rohaan; brother, Willie Battle; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Mr. John Will Battle and Mrs. Mozell Battle; her husband, Luther Carter; sisters, Voncile Smith, Isabell Burns, Shelly Fenile; brothers, Melvin Battle, Leon Battle, Joe Battle; aunt, Zuiar Battle; and nephew, Timothy Smith.
