Obituary Emmett Chappell III, aka "E", was born to the parentage of Emmett Chappell, Jr., and Vannessa Gail Chappell on January 22, 1983 at Shelby Medical Center, Alabaster, AL.
Emmett confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Present Truth Church. He was educated in the Shelby County School System where he was a star basketball player at Montevallo High School, a member of the football team, and involved in other extracurricular activities. In 2007, he relocated to Kansas City, MO. It was there that his precious son, Eason, was born. They were inseparable. He loved his family and loved and adored his son. He was a fun-loving, respectable young man who was a delight to be around. Everyone who knew him loved him. He certainly made a positive mark on his world.
Emmett was preceded in death by his grandmother, Minnie Brazzell, "Big Ma"; grandfather, Clifton Lightsey; great-grandparents, Lueollie and Sydney Fields, Mother Ruth Hudson; and aunt, Rhonda Staffney. He made his transition on October 17, 2018, at his home in Kansas City, MO. He leaves to cherish his memories: his precious son, Eason Chappell, Kansas City, MO; a beloved stepdaughter, Ciara Elix, Kansas City, MO; a special friend and mother of his son, Cicelynn Elix, Kansas City, MO; his loving mother, Vannessa Gail Chappell, Montevallo, AL; his devoted father, Emmett Chappell, Jr., Montevallo, AL; three brothers, Patrick O'Neal Chappell, Maylene, AL, Min. Orlando Darnell (LaShon) Chappell, Centerpoint, AL, and Germaine Kendell (Marilyn) Chappell, Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Erica Valencia Chappell, Hoover, AL, and Tracey Tamika (Terrance) Vick, Kansas City, MO; his grandparents, Elizabeth and Emmett Chappell, Sr., Montevallo, AL; ten aunts. Regina Renfro, Patricia Young, Caroline Crenshaw, Iris Chappell, Allyson Welcome, Audrey Young, Eva Lilly, all of Montevallo, AL, Pastor Beverly (Apostle Calvin) Meadows, Calera, AL, Diane (Charles) Towner, Alabaster, AL, and Maggie Stallworth, Detroit, MI; two adopted aunts, Jeuell Bishop and Mrs. Gladys Nelms (Anthony) Davis of Calera, AL; three uncles, Terrance (Jacqueline) Chappell, Montevallo, AL, Robert (Colleen) Brazzell, Racine, WI, and Clifton Lightsey, Jr.; three great uncles, Walker Fitts (Azzie), Wilton, AL, Min. Robert (Tina) Hudson, Calera, AL, and Rev. Marshall Smith, Albuquerque, NM; eight great-aunts, Ora Lee Reed, Birmingham, AL, Niola Huff, Linda (Milton) McCray, Debra Spruel, Brenda Fortune, Marie Collins all of Montevallo, AL, Carrie (Allen) Hayes, TN, and Verlina Ledlow, Brierfield, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends who shall miss him dearly.
