George Njui
Mathu
Nov 27, 2005 — Aug 14, 2026
Alabaster
His Story
The late George Njui Mathu was born on November 27, 2005, at Thika District Hospital in Thika, Kenya. He was the third child of John Mathu and Josephine Mathu, and a beloved
brother to Kevin Kamau Mathu, Lucy Maureen Mathu, and Mark Mwaura Mathu.
George was baptized as an infant at Christ the King Catholic Church in Githurai Kimbo, Kenya. He attended what was formerly known as Josu Academy before the Mathu family relocated to the United States in 2014, when George was only eight years old. The family settled in Alabaster, Alabama, where George began third grade. His faith continued to be an important part of his life. While attending St. Thomas Catholic Church, George was confirmed, served as an altar boy, and participated in Catholic catechism classes. He also served at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover during the Swahili Mass and was an active member of the Jumuiya
Juniors.
A LIFE CENTERED ON CHRIST
George's love for Christ truly stood out. His lifestyle was Christ-centered. He loved God, and he demonstrated that love not only through his words, but through the way he lived. George understood that serving God also meant serving others. His faith was visible
in his kindness, humility, obedience, hard work, and willingness to help anyone in need. George attended Meadow View Elementary, Thompson Intermediate, and Thompson Middle School, and graduated with the Class of 2024 from Thompson High School in Alabaster,
Alabama. George loved and served his family deeply. His obedience and willingness to help others
reflected the heart of a servant of the Lord.
HIS TALENTS, WORK, AND DREAMS George was a young man of many talents. One of the things that stood out most was his passion and ability to learn automotive mechanics. He had a dream and a goal of becoming a
mechatronic engineer. George worked extremely hard and achieved good grades while balancing school and employment. He became the first of his siblings to successfully balance working while attending school. He worked at Zaxby's, where he gained valuable experience and developed a
strong work ethic. After graduating from high school, George pursued his first automotive job, where he worked at Marvins. He also worked at Walmart, where his dedication and excellence were recognized
repeatedly. He was honored as a Walmart Champion multiple times. George continued pursuing his passion for the automotive industry. With the help and encouragement of his sister, he pursued a career at Honda in Lincoln, Alabama. This was his
dream job, and it offered him a promising future. George was a very fast learner. Within only his first two weeks, he had completed his training and was independently working alongside the team. His determination, intelligence, and
willingness to learn were evident to everyone around him.
HIS PASSING
On the morning of Friday, August 14, 2026, at approximately 5:28 A.M., the angels welcomed George home to Heaven. Although George lived only 20 years in this world, the impact of his life reached far beyond those years. His life, his faith, his kindness, and his service have touched so many people. His passing has left an emptiness that words cannot fully express. We miss his physical presence. We miss his smile, his laughter, his willingness to help, and simply having him with us. But we hold on to the faith that George lived by. We believe that this is not the end.
George's physical presence may no longer be with us, but his faith, his example, and the love he gave us will remain in our hearts. His life reminds us to put God first, to love our families, to serve others, to work hard, and to make every moment count. And one day, according to the promise of our faith, we will reunite with him and with our Savior in Heaven.
GEORGE'S FAVORITE SCRIPTURE
One of George's favorite scriptures was Psalm 37:23-24:
"The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand."
These words beautifully reflect the life George lived. His steps were guided by the Lord. He delighted in serving God, serving his family, and serving others. And now, as we mourn his passing, we trust that the same Lord who guided his steps here on earth is holding him in His hands.
George, you were loved. You were a son, a brother, a friend, a servant, a hard worker, and a child of God. Your time with us was far too short, but your impact was great. You led by example. You served with love. You put God first. And you left a legacy for all of us to follow.
We will carry your memory in our hearts. We will continue the work you started. We will continue to serve.
We will continue to put God first.
And until the day we meet again, we will hold firmly to our faith and remember the beautiful life you lived. Rest peacefully, George Njui Mathu. Your work here is done.
Your faith has left a lasting legacy. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again in Heaven. May your soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
