Grant Dewaune Mickens affectionately know as 'Bo" was born to the parentage of Lela Mickens Harris and Grant David Abercrombie on August 26, 1981 in Shelby County, AL.
He was lovingly known as "Jim Bob" "Bo" and "Mr. Jimmy".
He was baptized at the Jemison Church of Christ by his Grandfather Robert Haynes, Sr. who preceded in him in death.
He started his education at Randolph Elementary School and later transferred to Montevallo and Calera High School. He was an excellent Athlete in football and baseball. Later He earned his GED diploma.
He was preceded in death by several grandparents: Williams C. Mickens, who assisted in rearing him, Lance and Fannie Mickens, Ocie and Doris Ledlow and Ruby Jean Dukes.
He departed this life on Thursday February 16, 2017.
Saying goodbye and cherishing the memories of Grant is his loving mother, Lela G. (Patrick) Harris; One loving son whom he cherished Demerius Kewaune Woodson and Demerius's mother Dakeela Woodson; His father Grant David Abercrombie; A stepfather Hosea Haynes, Sr. who assisted in rearing him; Two grandmothers Alma Mickens and Carrie Haynes.
Three brothers and two sisters on his mother side: Hosea ( Keasha) Haynes, Jr., William Earl (Tempestt) Haynes, Patrice Harris, and Christian Harris and Keila Haynes;
Eight Brothers and four sisters on his father's side: Kevin (Victoria) Sanders, Shameka Sanders, Taisha Sanders, Tanesha Sanders, Bryon Houston, Cornelius Caraway, Brandon Abercrombie, Rashad Abercrombie, Danielle Bougouneau, Garnette Anderson, Devin Courtney and Deandre Courtney.
His Aunts; Wilma (Rance) Gaddis, Lakisha (Dwight) Brown, Cassandra Moore, Vanessa Abercrombie, Gloria Dukes, Betty Dukes, Ellen Abercrombie and Mary Abercrombie. His Uncles: Raymond (Teresa) Dukes, Phillip Dukes, Todd Abercrombie, Lyndon Fulgham, Duane (Lisa) Harris, Arthur Harris, and Darrell (Pauline) Harris; Several great Aunts and Uncles, 32 nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and other relatives who loved him very much and shall miss him dearly. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at Calera Church of Christ in Calera with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery in Brierfield.
