Jada Marie Mcdonald's Obituary

Jada Marie McDonald

"Jada Bug"

Life Story

Jada Marie McDonald was born on   May 21, 2001 in Birmingham, AL. to the parents of Samuel and Connie McDonald. She was preceded in death by David McDonald (grandfather), Willie McDonald (uncle), Rosetta McDonald (aunt), Marian Culbreath (great grandmother), Dothular Broughton (great grandmother) and Henry Clark (step grandfather).

Jada was raised up in a God- fearing home and taught from a very early age the importance of honoring and loving God with all her heart. Her incredible faith and love for God was evident in her love for others and her warm and kind spirit.  She exhibited such gentleness, kindness and respect for all those whom she met.  As she matured, so did her walk with God.

"Jada Bug" was currently enrolled as a junior at Montevallo High School. She enjoyed the guitar club, DIY craft club and she enjoyed the open and accepting atmosphere. Some of her hobbies were Cosplay, Komi-kon and Anime, and listening to K-pop music. Jada was an amazing artist and loved to draw and create. She also was a participant with the Calera Field of Angels Baseball League.

Jada grew to love and excel in the classroom. She made the A/B Honor roll the first semester and worked very hard to invest in her academics. Giving back to the community was also a part of her legacy. Volunteering at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home, Owens House, Ronald McDonald House, Maplewood Assisted Living and various other outreach programs.

She is also survived by her parents Samuel and Connie McDonald, siblings Ori S. Mack, Christian B. McDonald, and Brian C. McDonald. Grandparents: Rosie McDonald, Janice Clark, Sgt. Roy L. Smith, C Jay Smith, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

About Our Amazing Daughter

Jada was born with DiGeorge Syndrome which is a partial deletion of the 22 nd chromosome, also known as 22.q11 deletion. Due to this abnormality, she had a ventricular septal defect and an interrupted aortic arch, in which she needed immediate open- heart surgery at just four days old. At 11 months she also underwent her second open heart procedure to correct severe aortic stenosis. Both surgeries were performed at Boston Children Hospital.

Over the years she continued her maintenance for her heart at UAB and Children's of Hospital of Alabama. Recently, Jada had to undergo a third open heart procedure for valve replacement. After surgery complications arose which lead to her passing.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Yung Lau and the cardiovascular team of Children's Hospital of Alabama, for the loving care of our "Jada Bug".

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Upper Room Church in Wilton, AL with burial at First Baptist Cemetery in Calera.
