James Willie Harris, Sr.
Began his earthly journey November 18, 1950 in Brent, Alabama. The sixth child born of twelve siblings to the late Thomas Larry and Kate Lee Harris. Four siblings preceding him in death- Thomas Lee, Katherine Lucille, Helen Delois and Jesse James. Ending his journey on earth, Pewee, as he was known by everyone, entered into a new life with Christ October 19, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, surrounded by family.
Pee-wee was educated in the Bibb County School System, H.D. Davidson High School/BCHS class of 1970. Pewee began his apprenticeship with several companies: Olon Belcher Lumber, Champion Lumber Company, Belcher Ford, Brent Industries in Alabama and Stein Way Trucking Company in New York City. Pewee was a great cook. His specialty was turnip greens and corn bread. He loved reading, hunting and gardening.
James Married Jessie Mae Davidson and to this union two children were born.
Pee-wee leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Lydell Gene Harris, Brent, AL and James Willie Harris, Jr. (Shavonda), Tuscaloosa, AL; one granddaughter, Jayla Aree Harris, Brent, AL; six sisters, Bettie Jean Simmons (Steve) Teaneck, NJ, Maggie Bryant (Ivey), Brent, AL; Mildred Bowens (Horace), Tampa FL, Juanita Nelson, Chicago, IL, Priscilla Mack (Don), Centreville, AL, Sheila Cash (Richard), Brent, AL; two brothers, Henry Harris, Atlanta, GA and Arthur Harris (Bertha), Brent, A; three aunts, Minnie Howze, Estella Williams and Iona Jackson; four special children, Chloe, Clarisa, Willie and Jayden Dukes of Brent, AL. A host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 , 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Hopewell A.M.E. Zion Church in Brent, AL with burial at the Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Tracy Sanders- Eulogist
