James Kenneth Jackson, Affectionately known by many as "Bird" and "Rattlesnake," was born on July 28, 1954, in Calera, AL, to the late Paul and Lillie Jackson. From a young age, James accepted Christ and became a devoted member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
He was educated in the Shelby County School System and graduated from Montevallo High School in 1972. James continued his education at the University of Montevallo, where his curious and intelligent nature continued to flourish.
James was known for his sharp mind, lively spirit, and unforgettable presence. His vibrant personality made him the heart of any gathering. Whether making people laugh or sharing his signature phrase -"I am the Hood",- he left a lasting impression wherever he went. Above all, James cherished his family and friends deeply.
James was called home to eternal rest on May 21, 2025 at Shelby Ridge, Alabaster, AL. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Michael E. Jackson and sisters, Patricia Worthy and Olivia McCray.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved daughters, Lenetra King of Fort Worth, TX, Ashley Gentry of Montevallo, AL; his grandson, RJ of Fort Worth, TX; brothers, Charlie Paul Jackson (Gwendolyn) of Detroit, MI, Thomas Wilson of Calera, AL, Dwayne Jackson (Evelyn) of Jacksonville, NC, George Jackson (Teresa) of Ellenwood, GA; sisters, Toni Baker (Howard) of Brierfield, AL, Tomysine McPhatter of Detroit, MI; special nieces; immediate caregivers, Melody Wilson and Jacqueline Hale; lifelong friends, Edward Spruel and Richard Smith; special friends, Kelsey Fields, Skarlet Ward, Antion Tolbert, Tim Purnell, Dennis Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous dear friends.
James's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
