Obituary

Deacon James Pickett was born on August 24, 1941 in Saginaw, AL to Mr. William Wright and Ms. Alpha Mae Pickett.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he remained until death.

He was united in Holy matrimony on September 13, 1970 at 4:00 p.m. to Sarah Nell Carter.  To this union, three children were born.

He departed this life on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 8:44 a.m. surrounded by family.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers, Deacon Earnest Wright and Deacon Curtis Pickett; two sisters, Sis. Annie B. Adams and Sis. Bernice Thomas.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a loving wife of forty seven years, Sarah C. Pickett; three children: a son, Steven M. (Shealey) Pickett, Arletta Pickett and Cynthia McKnight of Alabaster, AL; five grandchildren, Steven O. Lilly, Jordan C. Powell, Christian B. Reed, Amare J. Pickett and LaShayla M. Pickett of Alabaster Alabama; 2 brothers-in-law, Joe (Susie) Carter of Bedford Heights, OH, Michael (Glenda) Carter; two sisters-in-law, Judy Moore of Birmingham, AL and Mary Pickett of Alabaster, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who shall miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church in Saginaw with burial at the Church yard Cemetery.
