The Life and legacy of Mr. Jerald Glenn Kirkland Sr. (AKA Glenn Caffey/ Sweet Lou) born December 3, 1968, to Janice Marie Kirkland. In the year of 1970, Janice married Charles Ray Caffey Sr. & reared Jerald from birth to adulthood together. Jerald was the oldest of seven siblings who looked up to him & called him "Big Bruh". Jerald was a graduate of Thompson High School, Class of 1988, and played Thompson varsity basketball. Jerald had many jobs & worked all his life, his first job was at Krystal's in Alabaster, AL. Jerald purchased his first car, a black GPX & enjoyed riding throughout the neighborhood. His last job was at C&l Enclosure Inc. Bessemer, AL, for more than 20 years, as a Lead man & rode back & forth with his friends, Adam Mann & Carl Thomas, until his health failed. Jerald loved sports & was a true Alabama football and Green Bay Packers fan. Jerald was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, Alabaster, AL, under the leadership of Pastor Grady Kelly, later years he was baptized in Jesus name & united with Faith Ta Tile De inited wee New Me Outah Minisery e lead the leaf ership of asy has later.
Caffey Sr. On April 19, 2014, Jerald reunited & married his High school sweetheart,
Bridgette LaShawn Patrick.
On May 28, 2025, God called him home peacefully to his eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by: his son, Domico Cashun Kirkland; bonus son, Brandon Patrick; godmother, Edith Allen; grandparents, Robert Kirkland Sr., Queen Esther Kirkland, John Henry Elliott, Willie Mae Long, James (Mary) Hall Sr., Beulah Mae Caffey, Alice Ferguson, Maybelle Elliott; sister, Tewuna Caffey Smitherman; uncles, Robert Kirkland Jr., Curtis (Mary) Pickett, Stanley Kirkland, Jerry Kirkland; aunt, Sarah (Luther) Shealey; uncles, Joann /Jenny/ Kathy Kirkland, Lois (Price) Green Sr. and Brenda Faye Hall.
Jerald leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Bridgette LaShawn Patrick Kirkland with whom he gained bonus children, one son, A.J. Rutledge (Mia), one daughter, Brittney Rutledge (Javion) both of Wilton, AL; a bonus grandson, whom he helped rear, Maleek Patrick also of Wilton, AL; two bonus granddaughters, Chloe Ruttedge, Alona Rutledge of Alabaster, AL.
He also leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Shontia Deshae Kirkland known as "Cutie Pie" from Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Jeraldlyn Marie Kirkland (Christopher) Williams; grandsons Christian Williams & Kyler Williams from Spanish Fort, AL; one son Jerald Glenn Kirkland Jr.; one granddaughter, Lourdess Leilani Kirkland from Foley, Al, one bonus son Jermal Flecha, bonus grandchildren, Kalani Flecha, Karmari Flecha, Bryson Miller, Elias McGee, Rivers Stanford from Foley, AL; one bonus daughter, Tikeda (Timothy) Flecha; three bonus grandsons, Timothy Kirkland Jr., Timylon Kirkland, Tyland Kirkland all of Alabaster, AL.
