Josephine McKnight Pettaway was born on December 4, 1948, in Alabaster, AL to the late Margie H. McKnight. Josephine attended Prentice High School in Montevallo, AL and lived in Pleasant Grove, AL until her departure December 3, 2023. Josephine accepted Christ at an early age. After learning of a person's death, Josephine would always say, "We didn't come here to stay." Josephine was a loving mother, a loving grandmother, and a loving great grandmother.

Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter Juanita A. McKnight Mayes, her brother Alvin L. "Slab" McKnight Allen, and the father of her daughters, and the love of her life, Victor R. Roebuck.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Cynthia A. McKnight Cook; seven grandchildren, Mario A. Youngblood, Candice M. (Gregory S.) Lloyd, Elder Cordiero S. Cook, Malachi C. Wright, Justin D. Wright, Qoamil R. Wright, Tamil S. Wright; four great grandchildren, Christopher C. Wright, Josiah Wright, Zakai Watson, and Caycen D. Clark; three sisters, Glendora (John) Green, Angela M. McKnight, Linda D. Ellison; one brother, Glen McKnight; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel.
