Joyce Marie Smitherman

Joyce was born to the late Catherine Pigrom Powell of Alabaster (Shelby County), Alabama on November 8, 1949.

Her confession of Christ came at an early age while being a member of the New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Calera, Alabama.  She was educated in the Prentice School System, Montevallo, Alabama and worked as a shift Supervisor for Specification Rubber Plant, Alabaster, AL for over 30 years.

We were praying for a different outcome but God's plans were different.  God call her from this home, a life of labor to life eternity on December 18, 2020 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster, Alabama.

She was proceeded in death by her Mother, Catherin Pigrom Powell, father, Lonnie Drake, Spouse, Roy Lewis Smitherman, and brothers, Lonnie B. Drake and James (Bull) Powell.

Her memories will be forever be cherished by her four daughters; Stephanie Powell Taylor (Lorenzo Don), Alabaster, AL;

Tracey Powell, Columbus, GA; Michelle Powell, Montevallo, AL; Leslie Smitherman, Montevallo, AL;

one brother, John (late Ada) Powell of Alabaster, AL; sisters, Hattie O'Neal of Birmingham AL; Jacquelyn Drake, Forestdale, AL; Debra Sankey, Enterprise, AL; stepmother, Annie Louise Drake, Forestdale, AL, and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, coworkers, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Liberty Cemetery at Alabaster, AL Viewing will be held Monday , Dec. 28, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. Apostle Calvin Meadows/ Officiating.
