M atthias Alvin Muldrow

Affectionately known as "Matt".  He was the sixth of seven children born on

May 17, 1967  to the late Alvin Muldrow and Ophelia Chaney Nelson in Birmingham, Alabama.

Matt accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Ephesus SDA Church.  He loved the Lord with all his heart.

Matthias attended Ephesus Academy in Birmingham, AL until his Sophomore year.  He was the Salutatorian of his class.  He attended Jackson Olin High School, Birmingham, AL for his Junior and Senior years .  Matthias obtained an Associates degree in Electronics at R.E.T.S.  Electronics, Birmingham, AL.  After Matt received his degree, he worked for his brother-in-law in Atlanta, GA, as an electrician for several years.  Years later, Matt changed his career. He attended truck driving school and obtained his Class B CDL.  He worked for Waste Management, Allied Waste, American Osment, Safety Kleen and Evergreen Transportation.   He obtained his Class A license and was employed by Swift Transportation. He was a  long-haul driver for the southeastern region states.   He became disabled in 2012 and was unable to work.

Dallas Cowboys and Alabama Crimson Tide were his favorite teams and he was faithful to both of them.

Matt met his wife Rena' Waters-Muldrow in Birmingham, AL in 1986.  They were married in Birmingham, AL on September 26, 1991.  They moved to Calera, AL in September 2006.  To this union two children were born.  Matt loved his family and he did everything in his power to make sure they were well taken care of and happy.

He was preceded in death by his brother Caesar Dawkins

Matt lived a fruitful life and his fond memories will always be cherished by his loving wife of twenty six years, Rena' Waters-Muldrow, Calera, AL; two daughters, Ra'Shundria Muldrow-Sanders (Andrew), Ashley Renee Muldrow both of Calera, AL; one granddaughter whom he loved and adored,  Aniyah Sanders; two brothers, Andrew Dawkins, Huntsville, AL, James "Jimi" Dawkins, Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Theora Powell (Sylvester), Atlanta, GA,  Wannakee Hill (Michael) New York, NY, Sonya Mason (Albert), Calera, AL; one uncle, Clifford Muldrow (Queen), Birmingham, AL; two aunts, Jean Morris, Nashville, TN, Eloise Young, Carson, CA and a host of nieces, nephews great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  Matt will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Christian Center in Alabaster with burial at New Grace Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. Bishop Sylvester Mixon- Pastor/Officiating.
