September 10, 1950 – January 23, 2025
On January 23, 2025, God sent his angel down to come & get his son, Norman S. Alexander A.K.A. "Big Buddy". Steve was born to Joe Fred & Willie Mae Alexander on September 10, 1950, in Shelby County, AL. He was educated in the Shelby County School System & graduated from Prentice High School in 1968. Steve was raised in the church & joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at an early age where his father was chairman of the deacon board for 21 years. As a young man, Steve attended Sunday School & church faithfully with his family. He followed in his dad's footsteps & became a deacon & Superintendent at Faith Missionary Baptist Church under Michael Reese. Steve was a hard-working man. He was employed at Brown Molding Company & then Oyx Tire until his disability. After that he would help people in the community, doing things like going to the store & cleaning fish, but most importantly he was loved and appreciated by all.
Later in life, he moved to Nashville, TN. He had 2 children & in 1976 he met & married Christine Alexander & gained 2 stepdaughters & had another son. After years they divorced & he later met & married Marilyn Page - Alexander & gained 2 more stepchildren. In 2013 he went back to his first wife Christine & moved to Memphis, TN & departed this earth at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.
He was preceded in death by: his son, DeMarco Alexander; his mother & father, Willie Mae & Joe Fred Alexander; sister, Anita James; brothers, Samuel, Wayne, Charles, and Randall Alexander; niece, LaQuedia; nephew, Gilbert Alexander, and stepdaughter, Lasharion King.
He leaves to mourn: his sisters, Nola Cooper & Doris Alexander of Nashville, TN; faithful stepdaughters, Charlotte King, LaTonya Page-Brooks; step-son Demitrius Page of Florida; godson, Cedric Thompson; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren & a host of other relatives & friends.
