Phyllis Bryant Slater was born to Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Eloise Bryant in Birmingham, Alabama on November 28, 1954. Phyllis confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Helena, Alabama. She graduated from Thompson High School Alabaster, Alabama where she was a member of the National Honor society. She moved to California in 1990 where she continued her education attending Sacramento City College and the University of California at Davis. Phyllis married Ronald Slater in April 1998. Phyllis was preceded in death by her Father Mr. Samuel Lewis Bryant and her sister Ms. Cynthia Nabors
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: husband Mr. Ronald Slater of Sacramento, CA; two sons Roderick (Zatoya) Bryant Sr of Sacramento, CA; and Demetrius (Shaketa) Baker of Alabaster, AL; five bonus children Darryl Slater, Veronica Slater, Carla Slater, Kassie Dorris and Jennifer Corcoran; one granddaughter Roshuna Bryant, Tuscaloosa, AL; six grandsons Roderick Bryant Jr., Sacramento, CA; Jakobi Baker, Calera, AL; Deterrius Cutts, Montevallo, AL; Jarrius Grimsley and Josiah Dubose of Alabaster, AL; and Anthony Binder, Sacramento, CA; mother Mrs. Eloise Bryant, Calera, AL; four sisters Mrs. Christine (Jimmy) Norris of Montevallo, AL; Ms. Valencia Bryant and Stephanie Bryant of Calera, AL; Mrs. Annette (Ray) Spiegner of Alabaster, AL; one brother Mr. Samuel Bryant of Calera, AL; godmother Ms. Marjhe Covina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Mar. 9 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Alabaster with interment at Alabama National Cemetery on Monday, Mar. 11 at 2:45 p.m. Rev. Richard Davis Officiating.
