Obituary
Ray Franklin Lewis was born on March 5th, 1949 to the late Joseph Lewis Sr. and the late Bertha Ann Wooley Carter.
He was united in marriage to the love his life Betty Lilly on January 17th, 1971. With this union they had two daughters, Carleta and Erica.
He was employed at National Standard (Columbiana, AL) for over 20 years. He retired from the Shelby County School system in April 2021 after 10 years of service.
Ray has seven siblings, Joseph (Lois) Lewis, Stanford Carter, Nathaniel (Mary) Carter, Haver (Jaccolah) Carter, Wanda Faye Carter. Two preceded him in death Larry Carter and Kathy Cunningham.
Ray leaves to mourn his passing: his beloved and dedicated wife of 51 years Betty Lewis, his daughters: Carleta (Johnny) Johnson and Erica (Jessie) Jones. Four grandsons: Antonio (Jasmine) Lewis, Christopher Holt, Joshua Johnson and Jonathan Johnson. Three great grands: Chloe Lewis, Zanella Lewis and Cyrus Holt. One godson Bradley Blain. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, in-laws, Cousins and friends. Special and devoted cousin Carleen Threatt.
Viewing will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Liberty Baptist Church in Alabaster with interment at Liberty Cemetery in Elliottsville, AL.
