Bishop Robert "Son, Jack Wheeler, Preacher Man" McCarter was born to the late Robert Jr. & Lizzie Mae McCarter on July 8, 1952, in Siluria, AL.
Bishop Robert Lee McCarter accepted Christ at an early age. Bishop McCarter served in many different stages of his life. He was a deacon, an Assistant Pastor at Emmanual Temple and later served at Faith Apostolic. In June 1981, he started his journey as a Pastor, while attending Bessemer Technical College. A few years later, he built Grace and Truth Apostolic Church, in Bessemer, Alabama. Where he saved many souls and built a legacy that will last forever. Bishop was Chairman of some of the largest organizations including Alabama District Counsel, P.A.W, and | AAM.
He retired from Vulcan Material in 2009 and later started a career at Walden Security where he served as a security officer. He enjoyed fishing, cleaning, cooking his infamous greens and cornbread, pastoring Grace and Truth Apostolic Church
- and spending quality time with his family and good friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory; a loving wife of 28 years, Melanye McCarter; four Daughters Shelender Browder, Melisha Hundley, Yasmine (Jeremy) McCarter, Kilonye (Quameyne) Lolbert, Keyanna (Adam) McCarter. One son; Alfonzo (Pertrice)
McCarter. One Brother; Terry McCarter; Sisters Dorothy (Clint) Burns; and Betty Culbertson; fourteen grandchildren and a multitude of family and friends.
Throughout Bishop McCarter's life, he embodied the essence of love, compassion, and resilience. His unwavering spirit and unwavering commitment to kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether it was through a warm smile, a listening ear, a helping hand, or the powerful word of God. Bishop McCarter left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him. His legacy of love and empathy will continue to inspire us all as we navigate life's journey.
