Ronald (Conner)
Conner, Sr.
December 9, 2018 – October 26, 2018
Ronald Conner, S r. was born to the parentage of the late
Joe Mixon and Betty Conner-Kennybrew on December 9, 1962,
in Brent, Alabama. He was later adopted and raised by his late
stepfather, Kamanuel Conner.
Early in life he was a member of Saints Assembly Apostolic Faith
Church under the pastorate of the late Bishop Ned Underwood.
He later became a member of the New Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church
under the pastorate of the late Rev. Eddie W. Sailes, Sr. He was
ordained a Deacon under the pastorate of Rev. Jimmy R. Martin.
Later, he moved his membership to Word of Faith Worship Center
where Bishop Bernard Steel is the pastor.
Brother Conner was formerly a musician, and was lead guitarist for
the Six Keys. He later became the musician for The Underwood
Spirituals of Brent, Alabama, and was a faithful member until his
health failed him.
He departed this life on October 26, 2018, at the UAB Hospital in
Birmingham, Alabama.
Brother Conner was preceded in death by his father, Joe Mixon;
stepgrandparents, Kamanuel Conner, Walter and Cleo Dukes.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories a loving, devoted and
beautiful wife, Barbara Joyce Conner; five sons, Reginald Conner,
Ronald (Alicia) Conner, Jr., Corneilus Conner and James Clark,
all of Brent, AL, Andre Darden from Maryland; two godsons,
Amari Jayceon (AJ) Henry of Brent, AL, and Kendriquez Jemarr
Henry; two daughters, Patrice Darden of Waldorf, MD,
and Ronnika Conner of Brent, AL; loving parents, Ray Kennybrew
and Betty Conner Kennybrew of MD; three sisters, Jamila Conner,
Judy Conner and Carlene Conner (Joseph) Stratton, of Laurel,
MD; ten sisters-in-law, Katie (JT), Lisa, Brenda (Andrew), Jolinda
(Aaron), Carolyne (James), Angela (Timmy), Anita (Robert),
Karen (Sandy), Cynthia and Tawanna; three brothers-in-law, John,
John Jr., and Joseph (Colene); two uncles, Alvin (Helen) Dukes
and O'Neal Dukes, both of Brent, AL; five aunts, Minnie Pearl
(Johnny) Washington, Bessie Ruth Underwood and Pastor Mattie
(Hubert) Murphy of Brent, AL, Bernice Stokes of Chicago, IL,
and Barbara Ann Mixon of Clearwater, FL; eight grandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who shall miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018
at 2:00 P.M. at Word of Life Worship Center in
Centreville with burial at Hopewell Cemetery in Brent, AL .
