was the 9 th of 11 children born on September 25, 1942, to the union of Warrick R. and Alice B. Harris, in Piper, AL. She confessed Christ at an early age and grew up in First Baptist Church, Calera, Alabama. Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was her stronghold.
Roslyn was educated in the public school system in Shelby County, AL. and graduated as valedictorian of the 1960 graduating class of Prentice High School in Montevallo, Al. She received her nursing degree from the University of Tennessee at Nashville and worked as a registered nurse in Nashville, TN and Philadelphia, PA for 42 years before retiring. She loved her profession and the people she served.
While living in Nashville, she united with Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served under the Rev. Willie Russell more than 20 years as a choir member, Missionary president and Nurses Guild. Roslyn moved back to Calera upon retirement, and reunited with First Baptist and continued to work in the choir, Missionary Society, Nurses Guild and Deaconess Board. She loved the Lord!
Roslyn leaves to celebrate her home going: daughter, Dr. Robin Allen (Nashville, TN); sons, Herbert Prentice (Nashville, TN), Dennis Prentice (Nashville, TN), and Richard Prentice (Knoxville, TN). Grand/children, Austin Prentice (Nashville, TN),Isa, Taniya, and Tytianna Harris; nephew Jemari Harris all of Montevallo, AL. She also leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren; Brandon Bryant (Nashville, TN), Natalia and Keyron Prentice (Knoxville, TN), Dr. Randi (Marketo) Days, Danielle Prentice, James D'Michael Harris, Markesha and Andrew Britton, Allyson, Zachary, and Myles Bailey all of Nashville, TN; Great-grandchildren;Taliah Prentice, Kamden, Kendall, and Kolton Days, Ayden Short, Keauraand T'Keyron Prentice. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Her twin sister Carolyn Ann Webb of Montevallo loving cared for her during her sickness and will cherish her memory. She truly loved her host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Roslyn's physical life here on earth ended on April 12, 2020. Her spiritual life rests with the Lord, awaiting the return of His precious son, Jesus and Eternal Life with him, whom she loved dearly.
Viewing will be held Thursday, April 17 from 12:00 noon -2:00 p.m. at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
A Private Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 17, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Cemetery in Calera, AL.
