Obituary

Ruth E. Harris McPherson was born to Warrick R. Harris and Alice Baker Harris on September 13, 1940 in Piper, AL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a beloved son, Billy Vaughn Harris, and a grandson Darryle Melton, Jr.  and seven siblings.

She confessed Christ at childhood and grew up in First Baptist Church Calera.  Ruth served as "Mother" in several local Apostolic Churches and was a Licensed Minister.  One of her favorite sayings was "I'm not a preacher, but a reacher."  She established and faithfully worked on her Ministry which she named "Manifest".  A mid-week Bible Study and Luncheon held each second and fourth Tuesday at Soldiers Of The Cross Ministries.

She was known as glamour, Mother Ruth, Ruthie, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Ruth and other titles.  God knows her Name.  Every child in the family has an  "Aunt Ruth nick name": "Red", "ERC', "Little Little", "Angranetta", "Wee Austin Boy", "Some Sunshine", "Inch high", "Sweet Pea", "Miss Crawford", "Yella" and on and on.  You know who you are.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Marvin (Dr. Renata) Harris, Darryle (Sonja) Melton; grandchildren, Natasha Wood, Monique (Beau) Crawford, ElDerecco (Joslyn) Fitts, Greshinia and Adam Melton, Alisha, Alex and Julia Harris; four great-grandchildren, three siblings, Joe Harris, Carolyn Webb and Roslyn Harris-Gregory; a beloved brother-in-law, Samuel Stricklin; Beloved and Special friends, Willie Keith, Sheland Wilson and Iman Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Soldiers of The Cross Ministries in Alabaster with burial at First Baptist Cemetery in Calera. Pastor Danita Ryan –Pastor/Officiating
