Sonja Marie Talley was born to the late Hoyt & Georgia McKenzie on December 22, 1962, in Bibb County, AL. She was educated by the Bibb County School System.

Sonja accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Faith Temple Deliverance Center in Montevallo, AL. Sonja was United in Holy Matrimony for almost 40 years to her husband, Jimmy Lee Talley. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Sonja was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Pauline Bolding, Floretta Barnes; and brothers, Milton, Horace, Douglas and Willie Hugh.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Jimmie Lee Talley; her children, Glen (Shasta) McKenzie, Tekiya McKenzie, Jimmy (Tashara) Talley, Joshua Talley, Nicole (Roosevelt) King, Matthew Talley; step daughters, Deondranise Purnell, Marquette (Marlon) Lamar; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Gentry, Diane Shaw, Geraldine McKenzie, Steve McKenzie, Greg (Diana) McKenzie, Mark (Christine) McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, Randy McKenzie, Marvin McKenzie, Travis (Tamika) McKenzie, Danny McKenzie; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
