(Caffey) Caffey Smitherman
September 15, 1979 – July 2, 2018
Tewuna Lamene Caffey Smitherman was born September 15, 1979 to Elder Charles Ray and Janice Marie Caffey, Sr. at Shelby Memorial Hospital in Alabaster, Alabama. Tewuna passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday July, 2, 2018 at Brookwood Shelby Baptist Alabaster, AL.
She confessed Christ at an early and united with The Freewill Missionary Baptist Church, Alabaster, Alabama. In later years, she was baptized in Jesus Name and was a faithful Sunday School member at Faith Temple Deliverance Center under the leadership of Bishop Johnny Harris, Montevallo, Alabama. In the year 2002, she fellowshipped with her parents at Christ Tabernacle in Brighton, Alabama, under the leadership of Elder Donald Bivins, Sr. In the year of 2003, her father and mother opened the door of New Life Outreach Ministry where she served faithfully until death in the duties of secretary, custodian, usher and praise leader. She will truly be missed.
Tewuna was a very caring person, always lending a helping hand, doing what she can. Tewuna attended Creekview Elementary School, Thompson High School- 1998 graduate. Tewuna worked in many fields: Childcare with Tender years and Creative stages, Industrial Services, Holiday Inn Express and Klassy Clean in Alabaster, Alabama until her death.
She is preceded in death by two grandmothers: Queen Esther (Robert) Kirkland and Buelah Mae ( Willie) Caffey; four great-grandparents: Jim (Alice) Ferguson, Walter (Willie Mae) Long; one aunt: Sarah (Luther) Shealey: Three uncles: Robert Kirkland, Jr., Jerry Kirkland and Curtis Pickettand three Aunts; Willie (Eddie) Miller and Betty Jo Cooper.
Tewuna leaves to cherish her memories: A loving husband, Encarlos Smitherman; two sons: Demonte' Lamar Caffey, Devandis Charmel Smitherman; one step-son, Rayshaun Bivins; a father and mother: Elder Charles (Janice ) Caffey, Sr.; four brothers: Jerold (Bridgette) Kirkland, Charles (Rosaland) Caffey, Jr., Aaron (Tiffanie) Caffey, Sr., Anthony Rumel (Jordan) Caffey; two sisters: Delencia (Rodney) Johnson and Yolanda Michelle Bivins; one aunt: Hazel Bivins, Mobile, AL; one god-sister, Renae Clay; one god-brother, Adrian Rhinehart; mother-in-law: Sandra Smitherman; two sisters-in-law: Alexus (George) Maddox and Alexsandria Smitherman and the Smitherman family; two god-daughters: Gabby Browder and Elle Hayes; two special uncles: Willie (Linda) Caffey, Kenny Caffey who helped rear her sons; special friends: Shaboo (Tacara) Hayes and Naquisha Hale; Four special aunts to the family: Mattie Hall, Juliette Montgomery, Lois Green and Susie Kirkland; a long-time classmate and friend Farrah Adams; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Tewuna loved Alabama football. "Roll Tide".
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 7 at 1:00 P.M. at Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church in Alabaster, AL with burial at the Caffey Family Cemetery. Bishop Gerry Bivins Officiating.
