Obituary
Vermell Zimma Jones Richardson was born to the late Arthur Jones Sr. and Frances Chappel Jones on Friday January 28, 1927. She accepted Christ at a young age at Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church where she remained a faithful servant of the Lord until her death. She received her formal education at Shelby County Training School, Columbiana, Alabama. She was employed at Alabaster Industries until she retired.
In the Spirit of her Christian mission, she served in different roles in the church. She served as Member of the Trustee Board, Member of the Stewardess Board, President of the Senior Usher Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, and as Secretary and faithful member of the Women's Missionary Society, until her health declined.
Sister Vermell cared for everyone she came in contact with. She was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends. She took care of many down through the years, to include her own kids, siblings , grandchildren, great-grand children, and others she adopted as her own. She always had a way of making kids feel loved.
On Wdednesday August 6, 2019 at her home with loved ones at her bedside she went home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Richardson ; s on, Lawrence S. Jones ; and d aughter, Debbie L. Richardson ; brothers, Arthur Jones Jr., Augustus Jones, Donald Jones, and Leroy A. Jones ; sisters, Isabelle Jones, Cora Mae Bush, Helen J. Epkins, Margaret J. Hicks, Frances G. Woods, and Annie E. Graves.
She leaves behind to treasure her memories fi ve c hildren : Wanda F. Snow, of Dayton, OH ; Alice (Doc) Mateen, of Stockton, CA , Mark (Cartrina) Jones Sr., of Birmingham, AL, Cynthia (Shawn) McDaniel, and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Richardson, both of Calera, AL; t wo Sisters Geraldine J. Bishop, and Joyce J. Pratt, both of Calera ; t wenty g randchildren and t hirty-one g reat g randchildren and o ne g reat- g reat g randchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family; Special friends Cousin Bernice Jones, Clifford Watts, Mr. John and Reverend Ruby Bustamonte, and Reverend Sandra Anderson her Pastor.
A Celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church in Calera with burial at First Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Sandra Anderson – Pastor Rev. Cynthia Jones McDaniel -Eulogist
