Obituary

Sis. Wanda Faye Carter McNeal was born on August 13, 1953, to the late Olin Carter and Bertha Wooley Carter in Alabaster, Alabama.

Wanda grew up in Alabaster and was educated in the Shelby County School System. She graduated from Thompson High School in 1970. Wanda became a mother figure to her younger siblings after the death of her mother. They all enjoyed the wonderful meals she prepared for them. Haver (aka Cokey), her brother, and Renee, her niece, affectionately recall racing home after getting off the school bus to get the first cut of her delicious cornbread. She was a wonderful cook and a fantastic home maker.

Wanda accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She was actively involved in the Youth Department, Young Matrons and the choir.

Wanda united in matrimony with James McNeal on August 15, 1996.

Wanda was preceded in death by: her brothers, Ray F. Lewis, Larry B. Carter and her sister, Kathy M. Carter Cunningham.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, James McNeal; four brothers, Joseph (Lois) Lewis, Nathan (Mary) Carter, Standford "Stan" Carter, and Haver (Jaccolah Caffey) Carter. Sister-in-law: Betty Lewis; Brothers in law: Neal McNeal, James (Lorene) McNeal, Glenn McNeal, Willie (Mary) McNeal and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
