Obituary

Willie James Thomas,Jr.

was born February 19, 1948 in Tampa, Florida to the late Willie J. Thomas, Sr. and Pearl Bryant Thomas.  Willie, Jr. was the first born of two children.  He departed this life on December 21, 2018 in Hoover, Alabama at Diversicare of Riverchase, Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Willie Accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Winter Haven, Florida.  He loved Sunday School and served in the youth Department.  He and his brother were reared by their father after the passing of their mother when they were one and three years of age.

He was a graduate of Jewett High School class of 1967 in Winter Haven, Florida.  After graduation, Willie Jr. volunteered to serve in the United States Army.  He was honorably discharged after three years of service in 1970.  After service, he attended Polk County Jr. College in Polk County, Florida.

Willie Jr. worked in the masonry business until his health failed.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  One loving, devoted brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Richard (Erma) Thomas of Alabaster, AL; one daughter, Felica Webster of Winter Haven, FL; two granddaughters, Shierra Spillman and Jakira Webster both of Winter Haven, AL; two great grandchildren, Shanilya Jones and Branton Nealy; one aunt, Minnie Gay of Grand Rapids, MI; three nieces, Alisa (Simon) Thompson of Winter Haven, FL, Dee Thomas of Nashville, TN and Tundra (Gregory) Williams of Pelham, AL; two grand nieces, a great nephew, a great grand nephew, a special friend- Barbara Mullins of Winter Haven, FL and a host of cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL with burial on Monday, Dec. 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL with Military Honors. Dr. Akeam Simmons - Pastor/Officiating.
