Alphonso R. Harris, also known as “Al” departes this life on Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster, AL. He was born July 31, 1938 to the late Robert and Lela Bell Fluellen Harris in Boothton, AL.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Evelyn J. Hosey Harris on October 18, 1958.
Alphonso enjoyed being around family and friends and making people laugh. He loved going fishing with his pals. He loved to dress and to be neat on all occasions. He loved wearing his caps.
Alphonso retired from Bloomingdale Department Store in New York City after 27 years of service. After his return to Alabama he worked several odd jobs before becoming ill and unable to work.
Our dad enjoyed spending time around family and friends telling stories of his life and sharing a laugh or two. He took pride in his appearance whatever the occasion may have been or not and he rarely was seen with his cap to complete his wardrobe wardrobe. One of his all time favorites was being able to go fishing with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his six sisters, Myrtle Lightsey, Twilla Cottingham, Gwendolyn Williams, Alvanie Lilly, Barbara Anderson, Marjorie Floyd and two brothers, Idolph “Don” Harris, and Major Harris.
