Obituary
Alta H. Easley was born August 31, 1937, to the late Sammie Harris & Cornelia Griffin. She was the eldest of eleven children, of which ten were born to her mother & her late stepfather, Mr. Richard Dangerfield Sr.
During her school years, Alta was a very advanced student.
She was a fast learner & was skipped a grade, therefore graduated from Prentice High School when she was only sixteen years old.
Alta has always had a love for plants.
Her hobbies included working in her yard, planting gardens, collecting plates, angels, & bells, cooking, & taking care of her beloved pets.
She had many jobs in her adulthood which included: Shellcon, National Standard, Walmart, & finally retired from the Shelby County Board of Education.
She began attending Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age & remained a loyal & faithful member until her death.
She departed this life on Monday, October 23, 2023, at her home, a place where she was loved, cared for & frequented by her family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Harris Tolbert; two brothers, James "OD" Dangerfield, Richard Dangerfield (Cincinnati, OH) & three sisters, Willa Mae Dangerfield, Brenda Dangerfield & Faye Morgan (Cincinnati,ОН).
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Tony (Tabitha) Harris, Todd (Terri) Haris; five daughters, Barbara (Darryl) Armstrong, Belinda (Mike) Oden, Vickie (George) Blevins, Angie Harris, Kimberly (Timothy) Durham; twenty three grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Spikes (Los Angeles, CA), Mattie Dangerfield, Jackie Morris, Diane Byrd, Sandra Butler (Cincinnati, OH),Phyllis Miller (Chicago, IL); a host of nieces, nephews, special friends; and let's not forget her beloved dog, Webster.
Viewing will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 12;00 Noon at Liberty Baptist Church in Alabaster with burial at Liberty Cemetery.
