Anthony Doss Obituary

Anthony Doss was born July 30, 1961, in Anniston, Alabama to the late Junior and Eula V. Doss. He confessed his love for Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized into the membership of Bethel Baptist Church in Anniston, AL. Anthony was a graduate of the class of 1979 of Anniston High School. He developed a passion for truck driving as a child and was employed by Osborne Trucking Company for 25 years until his health prevented it. Anthony was united in holy matrimony to Ora Jean Doss on May 21, 2010. He moved to Calera, AL and united with First Baptist Church Calera. He was ordained as a deacon in 2012 and also cherished singing praises to the Lord in the choir. Anthony was an avid Alabama “Roll Tide” fan, and a passionate fan of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and would not miss a Friday night of it, if he could help it. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends. He touched many with his kind, loving spirit and will be deeply missed.

Anthony entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord on May 14, 2024, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster, AL. He was supported by his wife, other family and friends.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Eula V. Doss; his daughter Shaundrika Lovelle Shields; a brother, Terry Doss; a sister, Patricia Ann Pickens. Those left to cherish his memory are: his loving, devoted wife of 13 years, Ora Jean Doss; two daughters, Candice Hardy of Anniston, AL, and Amari Bryant of Gadsden, AL; one son Joshua Carter of Montevallo, AL; Three brothers, David (Paige) Burnett of Piedmont, AL, Michael Doss of Anniston, AL, and Ronald Pickens of Anniston, AL; one sister Mary Lozene McBride of Atlanta, Ga; 6 grandchildren; one uncle, Jaycee Doss of Alexander City, AL; 6 brothers-in-laws; and 6 sisters-in-law. Special thanks to devoted nieces Jessica Howe and Shelby King; 3 devoted cousins, Leigh Ann Harris, Kenneth (Love) Whiteside, and Marketo Days; 3 devoted brothers-in-law; and one best friend, Ronald Collins of Gadsden, AL. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
