Benjamin Lee Doaks, Sr.
Sunrise January 11, 1963……………………..Sunset June 27, 2022
Benjamin was born to the parentage of the late Leon and Sarah Doaks.
He was baptized at an early age at Liberty Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL
He was a graduate of Thompson High School where he played basketball throughout the years and acquired the nickname “Jop”.
Right after High School he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was a Sharp Shooter and grenade landler.
He was employed with Golden Flake in Birmingham, AL.
He was an avid Alabama “Roll Tide” fan. He enjoyed playing Chess and Dominoes.
He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother Uncle and friend.
He was proceeded in death by a brother, John Hunter; sister, Teresa Arrington; nephew, Herman Hunter, Jr.
He departed this life on Monday, June 27, 2022 in Birmingham, AL.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, Benjamin L. Doaks, Jr. (Tara) Doaks, Calera, AL, Jeremy L. Doaks (Anna) Doaks, Alabaster, AL; daughter, Kiera N. Doaks, Brent, AL; five grandchildren, Joshua, Alynda, Caleb, London and Jeremy, Jr.; two brothers, Herman Hunter, Sr. of Alabaster, AL and Leon Doaks, Jr. of Calera, AL; three sisters, Angela M. Doaks, Atlanta, GA, Mechelle (Erwin) Jones, Jemison, AL and Barbara (Carl) Jones, Pelham, AL, three aunts, Willie Mae (Frank) Taylor, Alabaster, AL, Louise Phillips, Nashville, TN, and Emma (Charles) Harding, Nashville, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends; a special cousin that was like a brother, Haver (Cokey) Carter.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
