Obituary
Ms. Bernice Jones, affectionately known as “Aunt Bernice,” was born on August 27, 1927, to the late Winfred Jones Sr. and Alberta Smith Jones.
Bernice joined First Baptist Church at an early age.
Bernice attended school in Shelby County. She graduated from Shelby County Training School in Columbiana, AL and later attended Booker T. Washington Business College, where she earned an associate degree.
Bernice then went to Washington, D.C., where she worked with the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for twenty-nine years before moving back to Calera.
Preceding her in death were three brothers: James P. Jones, John Henry, and Winfred, Jr., and two sisters: Thelma E. Jones and Edith Holston.
She leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory.
Viewing will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church in Calera with Interment at First Baptist Cemetery.
