Obituary

Brayden Jairus Ray was born on August 1, 2008, to Shontua and Shontorshia Ray in Birmingham, Alabama. Brayden departed this life on September 3, 2023.

He was a sophomore at Calera High School where he was a member of the football and track teams.  Brayden will be remembered by family and friends as a shy, competitive, smart, loving and caring young man.

Brayden will be missed and long remembered by his loved ones: parents, Shontua and Shontorshia Ray; a loving big brother; William Tyler Ray; a loving sister, Mattison Ray; grandparents, Brenda (Willie) Stinson and Samuel (Phyllis) Bryant of Opelika, Alabama; Meta (Bobby) Ray of Montevallo, Alabama, and Edward Patterson of Columbiana, Alabama; a great grandmother, Mattie Grady of Opelika, AL; two special great aunts: Shirley (Don) Garrison of Reno, Nevada, and Havlyn Staffney of Montevallo, Alabama; and a host of other uncles, aunts, relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Cultivate Church 509 1st Avenue South Alabaster, AL. Interment at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
