Obituary

Bridgette Michelle Cotton King was born to the parentage of the late John Henry Cotton and Catherine Patterson Cotton on March 7, 1970 in Shelby County, AL.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Wilsonville, Alabama under the pastorate of Pastor Troy Holley.  She was educated in the Shelby County School System.

Bridgette was one of the nicest women you could ever meet. She was the true definition of a God fearing woman. If there was ever a way she could help someone, she was always quick to help anyway she could. She had a big heart and no one could ever take that away from her. She was family oriented and would do anything to make sure her family had all they needed, even if it meant putting her last on the line for them. Bridgette will be widely missed by many people. She touched so many hearts and her story will live on through every life that she touched. Bridgette truly left a legacy here on this earth.

She was preceded in death by two siblings, Earl and Cortez Cotton; Aunts, Betty Walton, Shirley Patterson, Doris Patterson; Uncles, Tony Patterson, Perry Patterson, Johnny Lee Patterson, Jim Patterson, David Patterson, Peter Cotton, Paul Cotton, James Edward Cotton.

Bridgette departed this life on Friday, October 1, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. she leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Alexander Cardell King, Auburn, AL; Five children, Markesha (Laderius) Cotton Oree, Alexander King, II, Joshua Marquez King, Andrew Carlos King and Alexis Shekinah King all of Auburn, AL; one granddaughter, Alexia Darshay Monroe, Auburn, AL; step-father, Willie Battle, Columbiana, AL; Siblings, Norman (Yolanda) Cotton, Decatur, AL, Loretta Cotton, Birmingham, AL, Carolyn Cotton, Calera, AL; Mother-in-law, Janice Alexander, Auburn, AL; Aunts, Ann Patterson, Ethel Mae Cotton, Peggy Cotton; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who shall miss her dearly.

Viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Union Baptist Church in Columbiana, AL with interment at Wilsonville Community Cemetery. Wilsonville, AL.
