Donna Prowell Obituary

Donna Renae Bivins Prowell was born to Donald R. Bivins, Sr. and Joann Ferguson Trotter on August 4, 1967 in Alabaster, Alabama. Donna attended Thompson High School, where she was the first African American student to win the school's talent show. She graduated in 1985 and went on to pursue a career in education.

On April 12, 1992, she was joined in holy matrimony to her wonderful husband, Gordon E.

Prowell, Sr., and have been inseparable for 33 years.

Donna was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in her early thirties and honored God until the day she died.

Donna, a devoted wife, mother, and daughter was a faithful servant for 20+ years at Bethesda Apostolic Worship Center. She was one of the original eight members of the ministry and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Church Ministry, Praise and Worship Leader, and Hospitality Team Member. Early in life, she developed a love for children by caring for her siblings. Her passion for students manifested while working for the Shelby County School System. There, she founded an afterschool outreach program for students at BAWC, where students gathered for tutoring sessions and her delicious meals.

Her favorite place to be was always in the kitchen, where she would prepare her famous chicken cheddar casserole and macaroni and cheese. She had a mind to serve, no matter where she was. Donna began singing at the age of three and was known to write her own songs. Her beautiful voice was known in many places. Her favorite was hobby was traveling with her husband, especially to their favorite destinations, Destin, Florida and Columbus, Georgia. Over the years, she was deemed as "Boss Lady" by her husband, because that's who she was! She became a pillar in the Montevallo Community, where she taught and cared for many students whom she called "her babies" and they called her "Ms. P".

Donna was predeceased by her grandmother, Martha Tolbert; stepfather, George Trotter; stepbrother, Corey George; and cousin and special friend, Samantha Bivins.
