Mrs. Dorothy M. Brown was born to the late, Lee James Milton & Nancy Milton on March 14, 1948, in Shelby County, AL. Mrs. Brown gave her life to Christ at an early age. She is a member of Grants Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Missionary Board, under the leadership of Pastor Sandra Anderson.
January 14, 2020, she was United in Holy Matrimony to the late, Leroy Brown, who preceded her in death.
She departed this life in the early hours September 10, 2023, in the comfort of her home.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters, Gwendolyn Taylor, Martha Horton, Sara Oden, Eula Melissa Brown; a son who preceded her in death, Johnny Brown, four sisters; Cherry Washington, Nancy E. Milton, Brenda Hill, Annie J. Milton; one brother, Lee James Milton Jr.; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, great uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dearest friend, Harriet Davis.
Mrs. Dorothy Brown was a loved mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was employed at Columbiana Health & Rehabilitation, as a head dietary cook. Her duties ceased from working when her health began declining, yet she still pursued being active in church & in the lives of her family. Mrs. Dorothy Brown is greatly missed by her family & loved ones.
Viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church in Calera with interment at First Baptist Cemetery in Calera.
