Dorothy Marie Purnell

Dorothy Marie Purnell was born June 13, 1941, to the Late Thomas and Gussie Prentice in Bibb County Alabama.

She joined Pleasant Sabine Baptist Church and received Christ at an early age. She was educated by the Bibb County School System. She later relocated to Montevallo, Alabama where she united in Holy Matrimony to Samuel Alex Purnell Sr in September of 1960.

She departed this life on Saturday November 4, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her children and family.

She was preceded n death by her parents, Thomas and Gussie Prentice; four siblings, Rosella, Dean, Frances, Thomas Jr.; A Loving Husband, Samuel Alex Purnell Sr; her Twin Daughters, Bonita and Juanita Purnell, and one grandson, Baby Justin S. Purnell.

She Leaves to Cherish her Love and Memories: two daughters, Norma Jean Purnelll, Clarice (Glover) DuBose, Montevallo, AL; four sons, Samuel (Lynn) Purnell, Clarksville TN, Kim Purnell, Atlanta GA, Herman (Monique) Purnell, Kerry Purnell, Montevallo, AL; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, two sisters, Sylvia Prentice of Calera Al, Wanda Prentice Montevallo, AL.; six brothers James (Charlene) Prentice, Lewis (Danielle) Prentice, Lorenzo (Skie) Prentice, Anthony Prentice, Theodis Prentice, Floyd Prentice, Atlanta GA, an honorary daughter, Denise (Jeffrey) Adams; a special daughter-in-love, Tequila “Princess” Ulmer; a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, friends and family.

Viewing will be held Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church in Montevallo, AL with Interment at Montevallo, Cemetery.
