Earnest Worthey

Bro. Earnest Worthey was born February 17, 1951, to the late Dallas & Clara Worthey.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Brierfield, AL, He later joined Green Chapel Baptist Church in Montevallo, AL until death.

Earnest graduated from Bibb County High School in 1970. He retired from Chemical Lime after 41 years. He owned his own business and helped many families until his health started to decline.

Earnest & Callie were foster parents for over 35 Years.

He departed this life peacefully at home on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Earnest was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Courtney Worthey; brothers, Ed & William Worthey; sister, Nellie Boone; & nephew, Daryl Worthey.

Earnest leaves to cherish his memory: a loving & devoted wife, Callie Mae Worthey; sons, Eric (LaCreatia) Worthey of Birmingham, AL, Jalun Worthey, Leonard Jones of Montevallo, AL; daughters, Stephanie Johnson, Stephanie Jones of Montevallo, AL, Tiffany Jones of Birmingham, AL; honorary niece, Sandra (Aubury) Johnson of Calera, AL; grandchildren, Kaleb Worthey of Birmingham, AL, Kaleah McGuire of Calera, AL, Kashmeir Chapman, Brandon Johnson, Niesha Piper, Tyler Jones, Jazlyn Lenoir, Tyson Jones of Montevallo, AL, Branden, Jordan, Myia Hare of Birmingham, AL; brothers, Dallas Worthey of Akron, Ohio, Daniel (Betty Joe) Worthey of Trenton, New Jersey, Jerry (Shirley) Worthey, Terry Worthey of Montevallo, AL; sister, Helen Worthey of Montevallo, AL; sisters in law, Queen Rogers of Calera, AL, Augusta Worthey of Akron, Ohio; brother in law, Curtis Boone of Murphy, NC; aunts, Pearlie (Rev. Henry) Rainer, Jean Wilson of California; Two special nephews, T.J. Cottingham of Helena, AL, Javis Worthey of Montevallo, AL; two special cousins, Jimmy Lee Worthey, Lane Worthey of Maplesville, AL; godsons & goddaughter, Tristan Craig, Lee Pope, Adrian Pearce; special friends, Chuck Chism, Donelle Norris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. -6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd. 

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at 

Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wilton, AL with interment at Montevallo City Cemetery.
