Edith Y. Booker
Edith was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1937 to John and Carrie Miller. She was baptized at an early age at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She attended St. Joseph’s grammar school where she graduated in 1950. Edith went on to graduate St. Macha Malachy in 1954. She attended Crane Community College to further her education.
Edith worked for Illinois Bell, then AT&T where she later retired and moved to Columbiana, Alabama. Edith began working for the Columbiana PD as a dispatcher and retired after years of being a valued employee.
Edith was known for her excellent cooking and distinctive laugh.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, sister (Bebe), two brothers (Elton & Ted) and grandson (Jordan A.KA. Moon).
Edith is survived by her two daughters Donna and Annette, four grandchildren Burt, Daniel (Letoy), Jasmine (Richard), and Jade, ten great grandchildren Endiya, Tyrin, Kyle, Danielle, Daniel, Camille, Destin, Jaleah, Avery, and Jamison, and one great great grand Dimani Jordan. She also leaves her two sisters Elizabeth Ivy and Brenda and one brother Ronald. Edith leaves a host of nieces and nephews that will treasure their memories with her forever.
Viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at The Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday Sept. 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The Good Shepherd Funeral Home with interment at Bolton Cemetery in Columbiana.
