Mother Georgia Queen Victoria McKenzie
Georgia, affectionally known to many as Mother McKenzie, was born June 21, 1926, to the union of the late Moses & Minnie Campbell in Chilton County.
Georgia accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Church in Maplesville, AL where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She later moved her membership to Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church Alabaster, AL under the leadership of the late District Elder William Fitts she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost. She served as the President of the Senior Usher Board until her health started failing.
Georgia was united in holy matrimony to the late Hoyt McKenzie, to this union eighteen children were born in which five preceded her in death.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Moses & Minnie Campbell; husband, Hoyt McKenzie; daughter, Pauline Bolding; sons, Milton, Horace, Douglas and Willie Hugh.
Georgia is survived by: her children, Betty Gentry of Montevallo, AL, Floretta Barnes of Greensboro, NC, Diane Shaw of Greensboro, NC, Geraldine McKenzie of Ontario, CA, Steve McKenzie of Montevallo, AL, Greg McKenzie of Maplesville, AL, Mark (Christine) McKenzie of Montevallo, AL, Sonja (Jimmy Lee) Talley of Montevallo, AL, Robert McKenzie of Birmingham, AL, Randy McKenzie of Chicago, IL, Marvin McKenzie of Maplesville, AL, Travis (Tamika) McKenzie of Maplesville, AL & Danny McKenzie of Clanton, AL. Georgia was the grandmother of sixty grandchildren and ninety-four great grandchildren (she was blessed to see six generations) a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Good Shepherd
A celebration of Life will be held Saturday November 11, 2023, at 12:00 Noon Emanuel Temple Holiness Church Alabaster, Alabama.
