Geraldine Ransom Obituary

Geraldine Ransom, a cherished soul, was born to the union of Frank and Lossie Bell Gardner on December 6, 1944, in Greene County, North Carolina.

She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age in North Carolina. Later, she relocated to Orange, New Jersey, where she became a devoted member of Green Pastures Missionary Baptist Church. Upon her relocation to Alabaster, Alabama in 2008, she joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. Geraldine served as a choir member, Missionary, and Deaconess. As Pastor Taylor aptly stated, "She was quiet and soft-spoken, but her presence, diligent work, and dedication spoke volumes." Her unwavering faith and service spanned 15+ years.

Geraldine received her formal education through the Greene County, North Carolina school system, attending Central High School. She entered into holy matrimony with Joseph Ransom, and their loving union endured for over 49 years.

Geraldine dedicated 18+ years of her life as an employee at the Meadowlands Sports Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, before retiring and relocating to Alabaster, Alabama in 2008. Her tenure at the arena was marked by her unwavering dedication, hard work, and dependability. She was known as a strong, loving, caring, and giving soul who genuinely wanted to help others.

Geraldine peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 78.

She was preceded in departure by ten beloved siblings: Rodell Swinson, Theodore Gardner, Augustus Gardner, Alma Gardner, Daiselle McDonald, Edgar Lee Gardner, Gurney Lee Gardner, Nettie Bell Gardner, Bernell Herring, and Janie Marie Gardner. Additionally, she was preceded in departure by two loving children: Angela Faye Darden and Shirlene Darden McKoy.

In loving memory, Geraldine is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Ransom, her beloved daughter, Teica Satterfield (John) of Columbiana, Alabama, and her three dear siblings: Nora Jackson of Newark, New Jersey; Louise Wilson of Goldsboro, North Carolina; and Greene Thomas Gardner of Newburgh, New York. Additionally, she is survived by her stepson, Reggie Flanders of Selma, North Carolina, a host of great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who held a special place in her heart.

May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
