Gregory Pope

Gregory Pope was born May 14, 1958 in Shelby, AL, to Earldine Pope. 

He Acknowledged Christ at an early and united with Providence Baptist Church in Shelby, AL.  Later in life, he joined Devine Faith Christian Church in Columbiana, AL, where he served on the Usher Board and was a faithful member until his health failed.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Earldine Pope Underwood and his sister, Gwendolyn Pope Watson, and two uncles, Joe T. Pope and Walter Brasher.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  A loving and devoted wife, Alfreda Bryant Pope of Shelby, AL; three stepchildren: Jennifer and Nicole Bryant of Columbiana, AL, Patrick Bryant of Auburn, AL; one special granddaughter: Morgan Denise Lewis, Columbiana, AL. ; one sister: Karen Underwood; one brother, Harold E. Underwood, both of Columbiana, AL;  stepfather: Fred Underwood of Columbiana, AL; four aunts: Johnnie (Adolphus) Walker of Atlanta, GA, Margaret and Shirley Pope of Calera, AL and Dorothy B. Rhoden of Childersburg, AL; a very special friend like a brother: Sam (Angela) Bristow of Wilsonville, AL; four sisters-in-law: Joyce Caver, Fayetteville, NC , Stephanie (Nelson) Wynn of Calera, AL, Jewel Ann (Rick) Inostroza of Newnan, GA, Cynthia (Bernard) Williams of Alabaster, AL; one brother-in-law: Mark Hawkins of Alabaster, AL; In-laws: Rev. Jewell and Eva Hawkins, Alabaster, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. 

A celebration of Life will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Shelby, AL with burial at Shelby Cemetery.
