Linnie Mae Young

Linnie Mae Young was born the daughter of Sailor Peoples Jr. & Annie Laura Young, in Bibb County, AL. 

She accepted Christ in her life at an early age and joined Waymon Chapel AME Church, then she later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church. She made her transition to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Brookwood Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. 

She was a well-known cosmetologist in Chicago, Illinois, in the 1970’s. She was also known for her excellent Southern Cooking. 

She was preceded in death by eight brothers & five sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Valerie Young & Peggy Young both of Brierfield, AL, Pamela (Harold) Bowman of Montevallo, AL; one son, Dennie Young of Brent, AL; four grandchildren, Christina Young of Birmingham, AL, D’Angelo Thompson of Montevallo , AL, Preston Young of Brierfield, AL, Detorious Clevland of Brent, AL, great grandson, Skyler Sterling; step mother, Pastor Mary Peoples; one sister, Mariam (Reginald) Mays; three brothers, Pastor Roy (Estella) Peoples, Rev. James Peoples, Joe Postell; three stepsisters, Tammy Jones, Lisa Jones, Glenda Young; two brothers in law, Leroy Devinner, Leroy Goode; a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins whom she loved dearly.

Viewing will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. -6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at   Ashby Baptist Church Highway 139 Brierfield, AL.
