Pearline Walker was born in Childersburg, Alabama on January 19, 1926, born to the late Bessie Dates and Eddie Swain. She became part of the 16 children (three sets of twins) born to the Swain Family. Pearline enjoyed her childhood as she received her formal education at Phyllis Wheatley High School and worked in the fields after school to assist the family’s household needs. Mrs. Walker also was an active member of her church where she was a choir member, deaconess wife, missionary worker, and there were many other positions she held. She would sit with who we call the Golden Girls, Mrs. Pauline Thompkins and Mrs. Lois Truss, her lifelong friends.
