Rev. James Avery Kidd was born August 30, 1960, to the union of the late Bertha L. Avery Bedford and George Washington Shealey. He was the second oldest of seven children.
He was preceded in death by sister Rosemary Jordan, brother Robert Earl Kidd, his grandmothers and great-grandmother.
He attended Shelby County High School and Birmingham Bible College. He was an Assistant Pastor at Wilsonville Baptist Church and Senior Chaplain at the Jimmie Hale Mission for nineteen years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf.
He parted this life on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Medical West Hospital, Bessemer, AL.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Judith A. Kidd; a son, Brad A. (Jovan) Burns; five grandchildren, Anna, Bryden, Ariah, Braxton, Skylah; two sisters, Cornelias (Jerone) McCarter, Dora Jordan; two brothers, William (Brenda) Jordan, Wallace T. Jordan; two uncles, Jessie L. Avery, Bobby (Diane) Lacey; a host of nephews and nieces; a special aunt, Geraldine Wood; and a special friend, Leslie (the late Tommy) Price and their children.
Viewing will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at The Good Shepherd.
An Official Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
