Samuel Lee “Sam” Chapple
The late Samuel Lee “Sam” Chapple was born to the late Hugh and Linda Chapple, third of six children, with four proceeding him death. He grew up in Brierfield, AL and Birmingham, AL. As a child, Sam attended Wayman Chapel A.M.E Church in Brierfield, AL. He attended the Seven Pine Elementary School in Brierfield and Bibb County Training School in Centreville, AL.
He was united in marriage to the late Betty Jean Melton Chapple on December 10,1966 and to that union seven children were born, one proceeded in death Jacqueline Charlene Anderson.
Sam worked at Southern Hauling in Calera, AL as a truck driver until he retired. In his spare time, Sam enjoyed watching tv, sports, Alabama Football “ROLL TIDE”, and waiting for his grand kids, great grand kids, nieces, and his nephew. As years passed, his health began to fail, and in 2015 he began dialysis. Sam was a very independent person, he drove himself to Dr, grocery store, and dialysis until his health failed. Sam lived by himself until May 2021, until he moved to the Buck Creek Medical Center in Alabaster, AL where he gained his wings on Sunday August 8, 2022.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter Floria (Keith) Scott, Alabaster, AL, five sons Felix (Connie) Chapple, Columbiana, AL, Antonio (Traci) Melton, Hoover, AL, Major Chapple (Faith), Calera, AL, Carl (Ellie)Chapple Anaheim, CA, Henry (Ritena) Chapple Pelham, AL. A devoted sister Sarah Chapple Lacey, of Montevallo, AL. Two sisters-in-laws Bobbie Ross, Montevallo, AL and Teresa Bolden, Pittsburg, PA One brother-in-law Darryl (Sonya) Melton, Florida. Sam had nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one proceeded him in death and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Viewing will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M at the Good Shepherd.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 13, 20222 at 12:00 Noon at Shiloh Baptist Church in Montevallo with burial at Montevallo Cemetery.
